Privacy Policy — Android
Simply Step Tracker has no account, no server and no analytics. Your steps, walks, routes and health entries are written to a database on your own phone and are never uploaded to us. We could not read your step history if we wanted to — there is nowhere for it to arrive.

1. What the app records, and where it is kept
All of the following is stored on your device only, in the app's own database and settings file. None of it is transmitted to Simply AppHub LLC, and none of it is transmitted to any third party.

Backups and share cards are the two exceptions, and in both cases you are the one moving the data. The app writes the file where you tell it to; what happens to it next is yours to decide.
2. What the app never asks for
- An email address, a password, or a sign-in of any kind. There is no account.
- Your contacts, calendar, microphone or camera.
- Your location in the background, or at any time when you are not recording a walk.
- Permission to read your gallery. The app can save a share card to it; it cannot browse it.
3. The three services that use the network
The app has no server of its own to talk to. Three outside services are reached from it, and each is listed here with what it can actually see.
Google AdMob — advertising, free version only
The free version shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To do that, AdMob receives the ordinary signals every ad request carries: your device's advertising ID, IP address, device model and Android version, coarse location derived from that IP address, and how you interacted with the ad. It does not receive your steps, your walks, your routes, or any health entry — no such data is passed to the ad SDK at any point.
Where the law requires it, the app asks for your advertising consent before any ad loads, using Google's own consent form. You can reopen that form at any time from Profile → Privacy & ads and change or withdraw your choice. If you decline personalised ads, ads are served without profiling. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Google's own handling of this data is governed by How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Buying Pro removes the advertising code from the app entirely — not merely the visible ads. Once Pro is active, no ad request is made and the ad SDK is never initialised.
Google Play Billing — purchases
Used only when you open the Pro screen, buy Pro, or restore an earlier purchase. Google Play is told which product you own, so the app can unlock the ad-free version. It is never told anything about your activity, your health data, or how you use the app. Payment details are handled entirely by Google Play; the app never sees a card number and we never receive one.
OpenStreetMap — map tiles, only when you open a route map
When you view a map of a walk you recorded, the map image is fetched from the OpenStreetMap Foundation's public tile servers. To send the right piece of map, those servers necessarily receive your IP address and the map area being displayed — which indicates the approximate area where the walk took place.
This is the one place where something about where you walked reaches a third party, so we would rather state it plainly than let "nothing leaves your phone" quietly cover it. Your route itself — the actual list of GPS points — is never uploaded; it is drawn on your device on top of the map image. Tiles already fetched are cached on your phone and not requested again. If you never open a route map, no map server is contacted at all.

4. Health Connect
The app can optionally read from and write to Health Connect, Android's own health store. This is off until you turn it on and grant permission.
Health Connect lives on your phone, under Android's permissions rather than ours. Reading lets the app fill gaps your phone's sensor could not cover — steps recorded by a watch, for example. Writing lets other apps you trust read your walks and steps. Data shared this way stays on the device; it does not pass through us.
Health data obtained from Health Connect is used only to display your own activity inside the app. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never transmitted to any third party. You can withdraw the permission at any time in Health Connect, or from the app's own settings.
5. Permissions, and why each is asked for

6. Keeping and deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device, you control its lifetime completely:
- Delete individual records — walks, health entries and days can be deleted in the app.
- Delete everything — the app's settings include an option to erase all recorded data.
- Uninstall the app — this removes the database, the settings file and the cached map tiles. Nothing survives it, because nothing was ever stored elsewhere.
There is no server-side copy to request, correct or have erased, because there is no server. If you exported a backup file yourself, that file is yours and is not affected by uninstalling.
7. Children
Simply Step Tracker is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no account system and requests no identifying information.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase personal data held about you, and to object to processing. In this app those rights are largely satisfied by the design: the data is on your device, you can read it in the app, export it to a file, and delete it at any time. For the advertising ID, you can withdraw consent through the app's privacy options or reset the identifier in your Android settings.
9. Changes to this policy
If the app starts doing something this policy does not describe, this policy changes first. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and material changes are noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
